Madeline Okano  

Guitar, Ukulele & Violin

Madeline Okano is an award-winning guitarist, violinist, composer and music educator.  Madeline is also a multi-instrumentalist and began playing classical guitar at the early age of five and the violin from the age of nine.  She studied the Suzuki method in depth, using it as a strong foundation for her future development as a musician.  Madeline has participated, performed and competed in many events including the Young Musicians and Artists program, the Northwest Guitar Festival and, when she moved to Portland as a young child, Madeline was accepted into the prestigious Portland Youth Philharmonic.  Through her studies and accomplishments Madeline has developed a deep appreciation for music performance and has been playing and performing ever since.   

 

Madeline holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Guitar Performance from Portland State University.  She studied under notable guitarists Mario Diaz, Jesse McCann and Scott Kritzer in addition, she also studied music composition with pedagoge Lisa Neher. 

 

Madeline has performed in masterclasses with world renowned classical guitarists including Sharon Isbin, Odair Assad, Martha Masters and Raphael Fuillatre.  In addition to playing and teaching music, Madeline loves knitting, reading and watching international movies on Netflix.
